Products > Magic Touch Add-On Touch Screen > How to Select an Add-On Touch Screen

Selecting the right add-on touch screen model for your monitor is important.  Fortunately, it is also easy.  All you need to do is to measure the monitor's "view area", which is the area that computer's image is displayed within, so it should not include the frame around the monitor.  Then compare your measurements with the "active area" of the touch screen shown in the table at Add-On Page to find the correct model.

Remember the touch screen's active area can be larger, but not smaller, than the display's view area.  It also shouldn't be too much larger, although it will still work, because you may find it difficult to mount properly on your monitor, and not to mention it may look very awkward .  Some people might intentionally buy a larger touch screen for their smaller monitor when they plan to get a new larger monitor in the near future.

Here are some examples:

1. The measurements of a notebook's LCD view area are 13" (330.2 mm) by 8.125" (206.4 mm).  You will find the model KTMT-154W has active area of 13.2" (335 mm) x 8.39" (213 mm).  Therefore this is the most suitable model for this notebook computer, which is a 15.4" widescreen model with 16:10 ratio.

2. The measurements of a LCD monitor's view area are 17" (431.8 mm) by 12.75" (323.9 mm).  You will find model KTMT-1921 has active of 17" (431.8 mm) x 13" (330.2 mm).  Therefore this is the most suitable model for this LCD, which is a 21" diagonal size with 4:3 ratio.

Note: The largest resistive type add-on touch screen is 24" widescreen model.  For larger add-on touch screen, we recommend you select a suitable model from our OPTIR Touch models.

3. The measurements of a large LCD monitor's view area are 40" (1016 mm) by 22.55" (572.8 mm).  You will find 46" OPTIR Touch model has active area of 40.3" (1024.4 mm) x 22.7" (577.2 mm).  Therefore this is the most suitable model for this large LCD, which is a 46" diagonal size with 16:9 ratio.

Note: 1 inch = 25.4 mm
